To insure that all we do is honoring and pleasing to the Lord, and in an effort to be as efficient and safe as possible in a culture different than the USA, Better Together Mexico, has adopted the following Code of Conduct:
Thoughts Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things.
Authority All authority is ordained by God and is to be respected. The leaders are Godly servants worthy of respect. Please obey all instruction given by the ministry leadership and individual work team leaders including the construction supervisor.
Dress All dress, for men and women, should be conservative and sensitive to the culture in which we work.
Speech All speech should be uplifting to the Lord and each other. No obscene language, off-color jokes or lewd or suggestive speech toward persons of the opposite sex.
Accountability On some trips we may have accountability partners. Ie so, your first responsibility is to approach your partner and talk with them if you observe questionable behavior concerning these guidelines.
Other
A. Any public displays of affection should be kept within the bounds of common decency and order.
B. Smoking or other tobacco use will only be allowed in designated areas away from main common areas. As a Christian witness, tobacco users are encouraged to limit or cease tobacco use during the mission trip.
C. Any dispute, conflict, or disciplinary action will be handled in accordance with Matthew 18:15-19.
1. Go to him/her, just the two of you and attempt resolution.
2. Take one or two others with you and attempt resolution.
3. Report to the leadership.
D. Please do not complain to each other about trip conditions. Take it to the Lord in prayer (He is a big God and can handle your suggestion) God hates complaining.
E. Please do not slander anyone or repeat gossip.
It is our desire that these issues will never be a problem, but when they do arise, we want to honor the Lord and restore all partners involved to a right relationship with the Lord and each other. For those refusing to abide by the rules or respect the authority of the leaders, depending on the severity of the infraction, they may be banished from future trips or ask to immediately leave the mission trip via public transportation at there own expense.
